Trophy Change

Hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend and snuck some golf in, Saturday we played Shoot Out and while a smaller field this year a lot of fun was had, two players dropped off every hole after the first with the final 3 at the 18th being Brad Gibbons, Nick Callingham and Terrance Sayers.

All 3 had a crack at birdie on the 18th with Brad and Nick making theirs so it went to a putt off where Nick edged out Brad with a well-judged putt to the hole.

A special mention to Brent Rawlinson who turned up specially to play, he made it to the 17th and possibly with a better tee shot was the man to beat with the shots up his sleeve but alas not to be.

The match committee have had a chat about the Summer Cup after I accidently ran the first round as a Stableford comp instead of nett, it has been decided that since Rutherford Cup which is in the program for the end of this month and is Stableford format that we will swap the trophies around so this weekend will be the 2nd round of the Rutherford Cup, again my apologies but this seems the logical fix to keep the integrity of the trophies.

Sunday saw 31 visitors turn up all the way from Tahuna Golf Club, a big thanks to Jono who dashed out that morning to mow the greens as they were getting fairly hairy by then after the weather hampered getting them done in the lead up to the weekend, also a big thanks to Shane for sorting their carts and to Tarn for doing the bar, they were over the moon with how they were looked after and rated their experience highly.

Entry sheet is up in the clubrooms for Wairekei and spaces are limited to 36 so make sure you are on the list.

Lastly don't forget Egmont and Plumbing twilight on Wednesday as the weather looks great and please send me your entries for the 2 Person Lions Ambrose on the 18th of this month if you haven't done so already.
